I remember college, first semester, and it’s time to register for classes. Here for the first time, I was confronted with the idea, who do you want to be? what can you offer this world? What is it you want to know the most about above all other things? Those were not easy questions for me. Without a clear path I felt lost. I made mistakes. I spent the years from 2001 till 2010 chasing a bachelors degree. Those years taught me several things. With inspiration from my mom, I learned i love the cinema. my passion crescendos in that art form, more than all others. The way music, acting, art, design, and story swirl steals my heart. Following that desire, I moved to New York, got a film degree, and worked in the industry. Between a transfer from Western Michigan University in Michigan and City College in New York, I stopped in Vermont for a year to live and work with my dad. Timing was great, as he had just started a design build construction firm and could use some help in the field. Now in my mid-twenties, I had minimal construction experience. I was fortunate to learn from him and his team very quickly. I was most drawn to work in the shop. I respected and admired the jump in precision, attention to detail, and process that environment afforded. Call me bitten. After film school, I worked in both disciplines simultaneously. Later, I was honored with fatherhood with my son Nash.

Over the next several years, I progressed my skill set working with several manufacturers and cabinet shops. Now, little by little, I hope to teach Nash as much as he’d like to learn. The process has been fulfilling, teaching, difficult, yet very exciting. I’ve reached a point I’d like to meld my skillsets and craft stories designing and fabricating unique home furnishings. But, I feel it’s important to be aware of my impact on the world and environment. So, that’s when I thought of Ruby Hall. Ruby Hall is a small startup shop entirely dedicated to repurposing used furniture, into thoughtful practical and beautiful pieces clients have a practical use for. This is the genesis of Ruby Hall.
